Sometimes, all it takes is a simple walk to travel back in time. That\u2019s exactly the feeling I had while taking part in\u00a0<\/em><\/span>R\u00e9cits de berge<\/em>s<\/span><\/span><\/a>, an activity offered by Bor\u00e9alis along the trails of the <\/span>\u00cele Saint-Quentin<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/a> As a communications and marketing officer, I often get the chance to experience our activities from behind the scenes, but this one truly stood out.<\/p>\n

A journey through time along the river<\/span><\/h4>\n

From the very first steps, the tone is set: bundle up, breathe in the crisp river air, and let yourself be carried away by the stories shared by our guide, Jean-Philippe Marcotte. If you\u2019ve ever heard him tell stories around a Story telling by the fire<\/em><\/a>\u00a0or during the Tour de l\u2019\u00eele, you already know how much passion and enthusiasm he brings to every activity.<\/p>\n

Using archival photos and a viewing device, he walks us through the evolution of the Saint-Maurice River shoreline, from the 1960s to today. Each stop becomes a small window into the past. We learn how the riverbanks were used over the decades, how people gathered and lived around them, and just how central the river has always been to life in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. And yes\u2014even in the 1960s, people were already gathering on the beach at \u00cele Saint-Quentin to enjoy the sun.<\/p>\n

Jean-Philippe est un guide g\u00e9n\u00e9reux et attentif, toujours pr\u00eat \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre aux questions ou \u00e0 \u00e9couter les souvenirs des\u00a0participant.e.s. Lors de ma visite, certaines personnes ont m\u00eame partag\u00e9 leurs propres anecdotes li\u00e9es \u00e0 la rivi\u00e8re ou \u00e0 l\u2019\u00cele Saint-Quentin,\u00a0cr\u00e9ant ainsi une vraie conversation collective.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What I appreciated most about this activity was how interactive it felt. Jean-Philippe is a generous and attentive guide, always ready to answer questions or listen to participants\u2019 memories. During my visit, some people even shared their own stories connected to the river or \u00cele Saint-Quentin, turning the walk into a real collective conversation.<\/p>\n
