The museum brings to life the region’s papermaking heritage and highlights the major role this industry played in shaping the area. During your visit, you’ll explore themes such as logging, the vital presence of water, mill work, lumberjacks, log drivers, and the development of working-class neighborhoods. Be amazed by the panoramic view from the walkway surrounding the iconic water tower, and end your visit in the mysterious underground vaults—once the mill’s water reservoir. An experience not to be missed!

To discover the history of the Canadian International Paper (CIP), its workers, and the surrounding neighborhood, the Premier “Shift” self-guided tour is the perfect choice. This walking circuit immerses you in the world of a CIP employee’s very first shift at what was once the largest paper mill in the world. With soundscapes and real-life testimonials, the tour brings to life the factory’s history and that of its working-class neighborhood, enriched with anecdotes and archival photographs.

The tour begins in front of the museum via an outdoor terminal (QR code access). A smartphone is required to use the terminal.
If needed, devices can be borrowed at the museum’s front desk during opening hours.
